YOUTH PROGRAMME 2003
We are keen to have as many children and young people as possible, (and their parents!), attend our Annual Meetings at Edinburgh in April. Edinburgh is an exciting city to visit and we have exciting plans to explore it as well as doing activities on campus. This leaflet gives you information about the organisation for the different age groups.
CRÈCHE
A crèche is available for young children during the weekday daytime meetings. Volunteers will be available to look after children on Sunday during the daytime.
JUNIOR PROGRAMME
Our popular Junior Programme will once again be welcoming 5 to 11 year olds each day of the Meetings. Sessions are run between 8.50am and 12.45pm and between 2.00pm and 5.45pm by trained leaders. Activities will be varied and lively, including trips out and possibly a swim. Bring a swimsuit and towel! At other times this age group will be the responsibility of their parents, sharing their University accommodation.
SENIOR PROGRAMME
Seniors aged 12 to 16 will be staying somewhere near to the Edinburgh site, with two experienced youth leaders. They will need a sleeping bag and sleeping mat. The Seniors follow a fun-packed programme of their own, meeting up with parents for the evening meal and joining some of the Annual Meeting activities, such as the Anniversary Service and the Banner Parade. Their programme costs £2 per night and they will also need spending and lunch money. Also bring swimming gear, as going for a swim could be included in the itinerary.
YOUNG ADULTS
This year's Annual Meetings are saying a big 'hello!' to young adults. There will be lots to do, many useful tasks to help with if you want to get involved in the running of the Meetings, including writing, printing and selling GA Zette, and the chance to find out how our Unitarian & Free Christian movement is organised. 18+ members will make sure that newcomers are made completely welcome.
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!
Please do not let financial concerns stop you from attending these Annual Meetings. The Youth Programme is organised by The FOY Society and REYD, both of which are offering grants to ensure that everyone who wants to has the chance to be involved in this national event. In addition, the GA is subsidising costs of attendance for various groups. So do contact us about grants.
BOOKING
We need you to tell us in good time if you intend to make use of the Youth Programme. As well as filling in the official booking form, please contact Sarah Tinker, RE & Youth Officer, on 0114 2630262 or Joan Partington, Youth Programme Co-ordinator, on 01228 670565 and let us know about your children and when you will be at the Meetings, at the latest by February 28. Also ring if you want advice about the various accommodation options.
Looking forward to meeting up with you all in Edinburgh.
