What the People Said
What our customers said:
Beautiful, peaceful space and full of people discussing interesting matters. Heaven!
Every year I think it can't get any better and every year it does. I have been at so many amazing events, heard so many outstanding speakers, been delighted with readings from both prose and poetry, been challenged and made to think by brilliant journalists and historians and commentators. What a feast!
The Festival has been, as usual, highly enjoyable and stimulating. The speakers have been provocative, humorous, thoughtful, racy, enlightening. Life is going to be very quiet after all the bustle.
A wonderfully enjoyable festival. My only regret - and surprise - is that you weren't able to organise better weather since all the rest of the organisation was impeccable.
What the authors said:
There's such a special atmosphere and such a sense of fun...The nicest bit of my summer, actually.

When the sun shines and the crowds gather, there is no finer place than Charlotte Square in the middle of August.

The Edinburgh International Book Festival has always managed to pull off the difficult trick of marrying high culture to high entertainment. It has never in its life been po-faced, yet has managed to attract more than its fair share of literary heavy weights from all four corners of the globe.

Exhiliration, imagination, inspiration - it is amazing what one green garden can contain.

One of the exciting things about the Edinburgh International Book Festival is the flow and interchange of ideas ...a celebration of the life of literature and the love of life itself.
Ron Ferguson, Aberdeen Press and Journal
There really is a superfluity of talent at the Book Festival.
Stuart Kelly, Scotland on Sunday
...this celebration of the written word is the intellectual spirit of the Edinburgh Festival.

In terms of family fun, nothing compares to the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
